Lantern Parade 2022

Join us for this year’s #LoveTheReans Lantern Parade!
We’re taking to the streets once again to celebrate our amazing local community.

It’s been a tough few years — our last parade was cancelled just as Covid hit — but we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to bring something special back to Wolverhampton. This year, the parade returns bigger and brighter than ever!

🌟 What to Expect

  • A community celebration – come together, meet new people, and enjoy being part of something uplifting.

  • Light installations – we’ve been teaming up with local partners to bring new and exciting light experiences to the event.

  • Sound experiences – working with our youth and community, we’ve explored the sounds and stories that shape our neighbourhood. Expect something brand new for Wolverhampton!

  • Fun, food and laughter – gather round the campfire to share stories, sing a song, have a jam session, or just soak up the atmosphere.

🕕 Event Details

  • Meet at Gatis from 5:30pm, ready to set off at 6pm sharp.

  • We’ll parade along a set route through the local area.

  • On our return to Gatis, you can explore the large lanterns and enjoy our light and sound installations across the site.

  • Afterwards, stay for food, a campfire, music, stories, songs, and plenty of laughter!

  • The evening will wrap up around 9pm.

💡 Get Involved

There are lots of ways to join in — just come along, or you can:

  • Volunteer to help run the event – email gatis.parade@gmail.com

  • Be a lantern bearer and help carry the large lanterns – email gatis.parade@gmail.com

  • Make your own lantern or light-up prop to bring along

  • Bring an instrument and join the music around the fire

  • Share a story or poem at the campfire

This is a free family-friendly event for everyone in our community. Donations on the night are always appreciated — they help keep Gatis Community Space running strong.

♿ The event is mostly wheelchair and pushchair friendly, though the wilderness and fire pit areas may be trickier to navigate. If you need support during the parade, please let a team member know — we’ll guide you on an accessible route.
