Lantern Parade 2023
Join us for this years parade! Starting from Wildside Activity Centre on Hordern Road, WV6 0HA and ending at Gatis Community Space we will be welcoming back Spring.

Join us in celebrating the return of spring. The event will run as follows please be aware times are estimated as we can never quite tell how long it will take to get to Gatis:
-6pm Gather at Wildside Activity Centre
-6.30pm Event Starts with a small drama/display followed by parade leaving to walk to Gatis
-7.30pm Arrive at Gatis (estimated time for tiny legs!)
-7.30pm – Lantern Characters placed into themed areas and their stories played on loop
-7.30pm – Light installations and refreshments from the cafe
-7.30pm – Camp Fire Readings brought to you by Men of Words
-8.00pm – Event Finale Alice in Wonderland by Gatis Youth Club – a mini panto
-8.30pm – Event close

Thing’s you need to know:
-There will be no parking available at Wildside, if you are a blue badge holder please contact us directly to arrange safe parking (this may mean arriving a little earlier to ensure safety).
-We ask that you book a ticket for each person attending so we can have the right amount of team members to look after your safety.
-Please wear suitable footwear and clothing for the weather conditions.
-We will be presenting a bit of drama/light display to set the event off – the best view for this will be in the car park at wildside or on the bridge over looking wildside – please for your safety do not attempt to gather on the canal side opposite Wildside.
-The walk to Gatis is just under 1 mile so any make sure you have buggies for small legs if needed, we encourage all those with small legs, buggies or wheelchairs to go at the front of the parade itself to help set the pace.
-We welcome you to bring your own lanterns or lights along but we do have some spare so please get in touch if you’d like to borrow a lantern.
-We have a limited number of the larger lanterns available to be carried one is suitable for a family of 4 – please contact us directly if you’d like to be a lantern bearer
