Tree Huggers

OVERVIEW

Tree Huggers is a vision of a few local people to bring like-minded people together to learn share and love our native trees.

Each month we will concentrate on a native to research and journal on. Cost of the session will be £5 per person which will go towards room hire and resources to develop the group.

Research can include:

  • Identification throughout the seasons
  • Community mapping
  • Treelore, folklore and traditions
  • Artwork (sketches, leaf rubbings, collage)
  • Photography
  • Poetry and short stories
  • Herbalism and health benefits of trees
  • Veteran and notable trees in the area
  • Ecosystems, habitats and the symbiotic relationships with other plants

Who is this suitable for?

• People who know a lot about trees and want to share their knowledge
• People who want to connect with woods, trees and people

What are the aims of this project?

• Learn to recognise and appreciate native British trees
• Learn about the Tree Ogham
• Celebrate the cultural impact of trees
