Our Partnerships

Those of us working on the staff and management team have many contacts and with our ethos of a community supporting community we are always on the lookout for new partnerships and collaboration opportunities. Below are some of the amazing people we have had the opportunity of working with:

MakeShift (Wolverhampton City Council) – who supported our initial ideas and helped us get Gatis off the ground by linking us up with a dedicated contact within the council and pointing us in the right direction for funding and other support.

WVSC (Wolverhampton Voluntary Sector Council) –

  • Volunteer Service – The volunteer center in Wolverhampton has been an amazing way to reach volunteers and they worked with us to put us in touch with some great people. We network with other Wolverhampton based companies and charities offering volunteering opportunities and support each other at regular volunteer meetings.
  • Wider Work – have given us support and advice in setting up the CIC and keeping us notified of funding opportunities but also in setting up a city-wide partnership looking to make Wolverhampton a participatory city – Wolverhampton for everyone – a people-powered city.

Eden Communities – core team leaders have been a part of the Eden Communities (formerly Big Lunch Extras) and are being used as case studies of successful community developments.  We run events in conjunction with Eden around Big Lunches and Community Development.  We have also hosted walkers on their Big Walk initiative.

MakerCentric (University of Wolverhampton) – we participated in the MakerCentric project in 2017 exploring community and crafting, producing artwork that was inspired by the community and built environment.

S4S Sustainable Fashion Project (University of Wolverhampton) – we are currently talking about how we can support this project in conjunction with our sustainable fashion Wrong Sides Together clothes swaps and upcyling clothing sessions

Boundary Way Project – we work closely with the team at Boundary Way and one of our core team is also on the Boundary Way project team.  We host indoor events for them when required and have done some cross-city team development workshops.

NCS (National Citizenship Service) – Each year a group of young people from the National Citizen Service come to Gatis to volunteer with us and use that experience and what they have learned for their NCS project which involves promoting what we do in some way. We all really enjoy this and are always excited to get kids involved in volunteering, it’s a great opportunity to educate young people about all the things that are important to us at Gatis.

Compton Hospice – We have been working closely with Compton Hospice to host the “Death Café,” creating a safe place to start the conversation about Death. Death cafes are very popular in London, have sprung up in Birmingham and 55 cities across the world.  Especially in British culture we tend to treat the subject of death as a taboo. We hope that the addition of a Death Café in Whitmore Reans will help people deal more naturally with death and dying and make the most of their “finite” lives.  www.deathcafe.com

Beyond this we work with many different organisations across the city including such people as:  The Good Shepherd, Wolverhampton Homeless Outreach, Youth Offending Team, Banardos, as well as a number of different schools, businesses, artists and individuals.
