Our Ethos

A Safe Haven of Tranquility

Gatis community space has been set up with the community in mind. Our vision is to make the centre and surrounding green spaces a safe haven of tranquillity where people can come together to explore their connection to the wider world, learn new skills and help make Wolverhampton a more sustainable city.

People supporting People

With this underlying ethos, we put the five ways to wellbeing at the heart of all our projects: Be Active, Keep Learning, Take Notice, Give and Connect.

The original community group have set up a not for profit company – Acts of Random Caring Community Interest Company to look after the financial and legal responsibilities of the centre but ultimately the day to day decision making is made by a combination of Company Directors, Management, Volunteers and Site Users – everyone's opinion has value and no one is favoured over anyone else. Our aim is to provide a centre that is truly community lead with a community up not business down decision-making approach.

Supporting local businesses...

It is also important to us that the centre supports local micro business, thus encouraging local sustainability. To help achieve this we support self-employment across all our activities from centre management right through to sessional workers making activities and small projects happen on site. Allowing those working with the centre to really take ownership of their areas of expertise and developing the diversity of activities and projects available to the local community.
